The Controls team, headed by Andreas Raduege [St. Olaf '18] is responsible for the implementation of drone functionality. This includes numerous aspects, most notably ensuring stable and controlled autonomous flight, navigation throughout the arena in a GPS-denied environment, detection mapping of all ground robots, and creating an effective gameplay strategy.
At the moment, the Controls team is composed of 12 people that meet once a week to discuss current research and progress. We are currently working on deciding what methods of navigation and robot detection we want to pusure and test in the coming semester. The largest current task is developing a simulation of the competition to develop algorithms.
